Stalingrad

Stalingrad easily tricked me into thinking I was watching a JJ Abrams movie. Shocking news: I wasn’t.

The Monuments Men

It’s okay George Clooney, nobody wins them all. The movie ‘The Train‘ starring original badass Burt Lancaster is much much better, and covers the same topic.

Below is the trailer for John Frankenheimer’s 1964 film ‘The Train‘ starring original badass Burt Lancaster. It’s a pretty ballsy action film that does a better job of capturing the heart and spirit of saving western art & culture from the Nazis during WWII. I very highly recommend this movie.

Note: Unfortunately I can’t embed the trailer so you’ll just have to go to YouTube to watch it.

I, Frankenstein

Budge before you judge, people. I, Frankenstein was actually pretty entertaining, and its low rating on Rotten Tomatoes is just one of many indicators that the aggregate review site at times descends into hyperbole to the extent that fan reviews can’t help it claw its way out of.

So if you’re looking for a way to hide from the reality that is global warming by ducking into a movie theater, this will more than meet your needs.

The Last Emperor

I recently watched The Last Emperor for the first time. This movie just goes to show that some life stories are truly so amazing that it’s impossible to fuck them up even with an average script and choppy editing.

Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale

iTunes kept recommending Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale to me, so I watched it. What a trippy take on Evil Santa Claus. There’s something about Scandanavian horror flicks that I’m really liking.

And old man penis. Tons of old man penis. There’s something about old man penis that I’m really….not liking per se…but you know, it took balls to put that much old man penis in a Christmas movie…and penis…took a lot of old man penis. Penis and balls go together.

47 Ronin

I don’t care what any review says. 47 Ronin was magnificent, and at the very least, should win 100 Oscars for costume design.

Fun fact: I saw it twice. I hardly ever see movies in the theat

Blue Velvet

I just finished watching Blue Velvet for the first time. I’m not sure it’s the amazegasmic movie everyone says it is. It’s no Twin Peaks, that’s for sure.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug was worth the price of admission. Good movie folks. Good. Not fantastic. But definitely good. Also, 48fps is the future.
